
The German corporate owners of a major USA technology equipment leasing firm hired DBA to research scandalous accusations of abuse and harassment by some of their salespeople. Involved persons were aggressive personnel in a high stakes market. We were given carte blanche to conduct a proper but delicate investigation, and met with key personnel around the nation to evaluate the situation even as some threatened lawsuits.
Concerned that a corporate president was going rogue, DBA was hired by the Board of Directors of a mid-size, privately held medical device company. A potential PPO was in the offing, and there were worries on all sides of attempts to manipulate stock holdings. After much negotiation, we performed a series of delicate and fraught interviews with all key persons.
A major Los Angeles Times story centered around a DBA investigation into possible arbitration fraud. DBA worked with a large commercial landlord who entered binding arbitration over a minor dispute with a new tenant and was shocked to be penalized over $400,000. Investigation revealed other instances where landlords had also faced the same arbitration entity with similar results. DBA investigation found hidden links between the arbitration entity and the various involved tenants.
The largest builder of mall and regional shopping centers in California and maybe the US, the Ernest W. Hahn Company, later known as Trizec-Hahn, needed help from DBA to defend against lawsuits brought by aging construction workers in regard to asbestos use. Since Hahn essentially closed operations in the 1980s, DBA had to locate and interview key executives and find documentation and plans from over twenty years ago.
DBA provides premises liability investigation services for several major Southern California retailers, including Toys R Us and The Limited Stores, and a major premises liability insurer, interviewing employees and customer witnesses, photographing accident sites, doing plaintiff backgrounds and subrosa.
